BIO
Pablo Hurtado is a Venezuelan born American artist with a long trajectory in painting and printmaking.
“I was born and raised in Venezuela until I was 14 when my family the moved to the US, we lived just outside of NYC, soon after that, I moved to Boston, where attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts for 5 years. By the time left air school, my life was art everywhere and all the time, I was painting and making prints. My artwork and artist vision reflect my experience with street art, American art of the 60s through the 80s as well as Latin American cultural and color drama. I experienced early career successes in Caracas, Venezuela, I also exhibited in Bogota, Colombia and participated in solo and group shows in Boston and later in East Hampton, NY, where I lived for twelve years. Life changes brought me to Florida in 2005, I went back to school, this time for a degree in nursing; as a Registered Nurse, I worked in different health care settings in Florida, Massachusetts and Maryland, all the while knowing I would get back to making art when I retired from nursing. On November 2022, I started to paint again, I had decided to start where I had left off all those years before, developing images starting with abstract shapes that morph into figurative cartoon-like characters. I work on making art full time and paint most every day.”
